“You can clone the look of a dog, but you can’t clone the soul.” —Barbra Streisand

When Barbra Streisand’s beloved dog Samantha was nearing submission to her earthly fate (aka dying at the sunset age of 14), her famous and very rich owner decided to clone her.

Before Samantha passed away, cells were taken from the inside of her cheek to make her clones. Four puppies were successfully bred through state-of-the-art, rich-people access to modern science.

However, shortly after the clone litter was born, the runt sadly passed away (RIP), leaving just three surviving clone puppies for Barbra to push around in a dog stroller and visit Samantha's grave.

In her New York Times article titled "Barbra Streisand Explains: Why I Cloned My Dog," she admits they all have different personalities than Samantha, but that she loves them very much nevertheless.
